You can do that using the controls on the front, so I doubt it...kam-325i wrote:Is it not for changing from metric/imperial - US/UK/European... C-F. Mph - Kmph

I only have some clues from an american website...
one guy said his OLD one had 12hF, 12hC, 24hC on the back, but was that actually a 13 button OBC? He doesn't say clearly.
Another yank said
'As for the rotary switch on back... I don't know what the numbers 30 and 60 stand for but the positions with CH on them enable the chime so that if the temp goes below 36 degrees or you exceed the max speed, you will hear the chime go off to alert you.'
so it could be the chime temperature? And maybe the other two with just 30 and 60 mean that there is NO chime if the OBC is on those settings
Who wants to get their OBC out and test my theories?
not me.....

Only fitted mine yesterday (1h30 for the whole thing from start to finish
), but it's got to come back out - I swapped the display bulbs but the button one's dead too! & I can't find a way of pulling the bulb out with the obc still in the dash...
So yeah, I'll be able to have a fiddle!

Jon, yeah i think the lamp is the same as the instrument cluster, raining too hard to go outside to the garage to check. I'll have a look in the morning if i remember...

Don't worry about it - I'm pretty sure they're the same & I'm not gonna be doing anything about it 'til after the weekend anyway - away from tomorrow afternoon.... Sadly this means you'll have to wait a bit longer to see my new exhaust on the car, but I'm sure you'll cope!E30Mark wrote: Retro fitted one into my iS, all works apart from the 'code' immobiliser (Which is cr@p anyway...)

& re the immobiliser; I didn't even bother trying to fit it. That means you don't need the horn or control box, & don't have to fiddle around with the connections behind the glovebox (apart from connecting the temp sensor loom to the main obc loom). P1$$ easy!

Will i have to connect it on mine,or will it not be much more work?& re the immobiliser; I didn't even bother trying to fit it. Also i take it that all the connections etc are the same regardless of model.Mines 318is and donor is 320iSE

It's all in the tech articles section...
The immobiliser (code) function is pretty much useless anyway (assuming you've got some other form of security), so there's no real point in connecting it. That means it's just the plug on the back of the instrument cluster, the indicator stalk, the gong and the temp sensor that you've got to fit - nowt complicated
& yep, I'm pretty certain there's no difference between models... apart from the coding chip for the milage / range calcuations. They'll probably be even less accurate for you!

on my old IS, the gong was connected and didnt work
today i installed the same OBC, without touching the back of the obc or any dials etc, and it worked. so im not sure it that little knob does anything
it mite be for coding plugs
