Hello,
I need help from member here.

AFAIK, they're the same. There's a plug and socket in the engine loom on the bulkhead that has to be connected together when running without a lambda sensor, which connects up the CO adjustment pot. built into the air meter. When running with a lambda sensor, the CO control voltage is provided by the signal from it.

This diagram is for an M42, but the wiring is similar. You can see the plug and socket near the bottom of the diagram.

thank you for the info Brian, but I'm difficult to find it in my car, I see a wire with plug that hang in the engine loom, but I can't find the plug and socket you, or does because my car is designed for without lambda sensor?Brianmoooore wrote:AFAIK, they're the same. NO
The Cat equipped ECU's are different to that of non cat cars, My ecu gave up and i fitted a Non cat ECU and it ran like a bag of Nails. I would imagine the same would apply if you fitted a cat ECU to a non Cat car.
The Car in question was also a 318i M40

I fitted a non-Cat ECU to my Cat equipped M40 and it ran fine.

also the conclusion does all green label is with cat? and brown label is non cat? does it apply to M40 e36 engine also?
my friend has an e36 NOn Cat trouble ecu Bosch 0261200520 with brown label, so if I must replace it, I should get the same bosch 0261200520?
