Mine's currently getting used as a shelf in the garage, if anyone wanted it they'd have to clear a mountain of sh*t to get it.

Mine just sits on my driveway behind a bit of fence, EWS is main security to stop it from starting but if no one's going to be about then I suppose I'd remove the battery...
I live in a place where everyone has nothing better to do but look out their windows, if my neighbour catches me on my way into the house I'll be informed about every visitor I had since I left, what they looked like and also that he offered to sign for any packages incase he's a courier!

It's not really the sort of thing I worry about, insurance is there to cushion the blow at the end of the day.

I take the view that if some-one really, really wants to take one of my cars, there is very little that I can do to stop it happening.

I take measures to make it as difficult as I can, though. So one car is in a locked garage, another is behind a secure door, and the third is behind a secure post.

When away from home,I tend to use a visible deterant attached to the steery wheel.

Your right singh ive mellowed mine down as it was a bit detailed. People need to stop being too paranoid over this. We all got pics over the forum, facebook etc of our cars outside our house with the garage door wide open but ppl overlook that. We even tell ppl on facebook that where going on holiday and that we've checked in at a airport/hotel etc.
Im not asking ppl what your house alarm code is and where you keep the car keys. Im asking what EXTRA measures people go to, to protect there cars. For all I know some may even tie a piece of string from their finger to their car so it pulls on their finger if anyone tryed nicking it or better still they may jus have a picture of the mother in law stuck to the sun-visor to scare thieves off

there is car crime but it is kids breaking into your car to nick the wallet you left on the seat. very common to leave your car running while you pop into the shops.

VERY rare to hear of a car stolen, very rare to hear of a car broken into for the stereo etc.

my cars i leave unlocked mainly because it sits all summer (as i try not to use it in the 50C heat) and i cannot be bothered with flat batteries - no one wil steal it so its not worth locking.

But when i leave my car in car parks where i am doing something that involves activities (swimming, squash, boating, golf etc) i normally lock the car, but leave the keys inside the door pocket. the remote key i leave sitting under my windscreen wiper (so i cannot loose it!)

my cabby had the roof open for about a year when i first bought it (as it was knackered), most i had stolen was a pair of sunglasses i left in there one night...and i left it at the rugby club (due to my drinking) and guess what...the place is frequneted by 90% expatriates of which most are brits/SA/Aus. It even had a nice stereo on display. When the roof was fixed it still didn't lock it as i reckon if they want to nick something they can do it by opening the door and not by cutting the roof.

So bascialy if i leave nothing of value in the car, they cannot nick anything!

In fact as I type this my Durango is unlocked with a nice set of Titleist irons and an R9 driver sitting in the boot, but as we live on a small island there is no sceond hand value of stolen stuff so there is little crime.

Oh yeah its also 46C today so its too hot to go outside to nick stuff anyway!

Factory fitted alarm & immobiliser which works by way of a magnetic key inserted into the door and amazingly still works 23 years after it was installed. There's also a Motorola immobiliser that has been in it for well over 15 years and still functions correctly.

cat 1 viper with 4 point imobiliser and a pager... you so much as knock my car and my pager goes off. beeping fanticly and vibrating across the table. if this happens you better run as me and my american bulldog and my bat will be chasing you, me to smash your legs to bits and marley to take chunks from you

if you try getting in, the car chirps 3 times to warn you off, thats your que to exit fast, the alarm has a silent arm function to so basically the car wont make a sound but inside the house the pager goes nuts.!!

so in summary, if you value your legs and other parts of your anatomy pick on someone elses car because i guarantee without legs you wont drive away another mans pride and joy for the rest of your life

Mine is currently in my garage accompanied by a dehumidifier. Garage doors are blocked by an e32 and a sapphire cosworth, which both shamelessly sit on the drive slowly disappearing  It seems I have my financial priorities all in a muddle :pff:
