Don't know what to say about this without sounding a pessimist...

It's hard to explain it to you without writing out everything that's been said a million times before, but in a nutshell:

a) the engine will physically fit, but it won't just drop in. You need to change some parts like the sump and dipstick.
b) you need to solve the exhaust issue. You can make your own manifold or buy ones pre-made, but there's nothing from BMW that will fit. This is the biggest cost of your swap, and will easily cost 500 pounds.
c) You need to swap your brake servo for something smaller.

There's little niggling issues, which are all documented here:

The links explain it all a lot better. You need to work out what gearbox, prop, diff and clutch you'll use, and how that affects your gearshifter. You need to solve a few wiring niggles, the massive headache of EWS if your E36 is fitted with it, making sure your E30 gauges work... I can't say "those are the three main things" because any of the others will also make your car undriveable.

There's a whole section of this forum dedicated to this swap, so before you spend a penny, spend an afternoon reading. You'll learn soon enough that doing this swap on a 500 quid budget will only end in tears.

just to let you all no the conversion is basically finished! , all i need to get is a throttle cable and inlet rubber boot! , the toatal off the conversion for labor was £700 ,

parts that i have bought,

e34 sump
e28 x2 engine mounts
m50 manifold
remove ews and chipp (from danthe)
throttle cable,
328i engine with gearbox
e30 prop shaft bearing
renault clio brake servo
and service kit (oil plugs filters)

toatal cost was around 650-700 for parts

and the labor

fitting the engine,
chopping the manifold
all wiring
fitted m50 inlet
made good of the exhaust
found rust behind brake servo had cut out and welded up

this cost £700!!

so in toatal for the conversion it came to around 1400 give or take:) just thought id let you all no!

thanks for all the help guys!:)

Sounds cheap to me considering the amount of work that goes into the conversion...

Or I'm too expensive?
