Now that the sun has been shinning I have seen 3 E30's in the past week. When usually I see none for months. I Was wondering if the site owner/mods could put a spotted forum on the zone, I've seen similar on the likes of Pistonheads on the TVR bit, where if you spot a fellow e30 you can post where/description of car, partial number plate.
Thought this might be a better idea than posting in the general section, and getting the "it wasn't me".

So I thought I'd do a poll. First one! winkeye

Surely 'no' and 'stupid idea' amount to the same thing?

I think there's no harm in having one, if it's not too much hassle. Clears the 'BMW Chat' bit of it. Then if you like the idea of been spotted, there's a section to go check.. Not that I've seen any of the 'spotted' say that they were they, before.

Well I'm not against it but I'm not sure it would work, to find out if anyone had spotted you whilst out driving you have to go into the was it you section and search , why would anyone do this?
If you had both acknowledged each other at the time ie waved whilst going opposite directions then you might search , but most of the was it you threads are of parked cars or glimpses of cars.

People wouldnt be looking at it all the time to see if the were spotted or not, people could just glimpse over it every now and then, and if people put partial number plate in the subject header, it would be easier to spot if you have been spotted!

I suggested this a while back and got shot down in flames... I'm all for it tbh, but I think some people think it could put their precious turds at risk :/

That was my comment last time the subject was raised, and that's why I clicked "stupid" this time round. With Sports models and Cabriolets now selling for thousands, it only takes one "enthusiast" to tell the world "there's a really tasty E30 with really tasty wheels parked in this specific village in Surrey!"

And how long before someone else takes advantage of that fact to steal the car, or worse, their BBS centre caps?

my thoughts exactly..i usually give them a thumbs up anyway (well the people who actually look like they enjoy owning their E30..not the people using them as "the old banger"- you can normally tell them apart)

Why would i need to come on here and tell the person (who i acknowleged on the road) that i saw them at a specific time and place :?

makes no sense to me lol

Some people just don't get it do ya? Its not always if you have acknowledged each other.
You may of been passing in different directions and only one saw the other, or someone was up front 10 cars spaces......

Fair enough, but usually this sort of thing has its own thread for individual times/cars etc if people see fit, putting it all into one thread is just unnecessary/sad/asking for trouble IMO

I sure wouldnt want the daily whereabouts of my cars broadcast on the net

No to having it's own section, maybe to a thread. I'm on another forum that I check a few times month and when hitting "show new posts" 90% of them are spotted threads that I couldn't care less about.

It's just an idea guys, lots of forums do it. Let the poll decide, (which currently the majority say yes). For those that are leaving negative comments, if they do decide to have a spotted thread, if you think its a waste of time, then dont look in this specific thread, then it wont bother you if you think its a waste of time. cos most new threads would be "spotted."
Its just an idea for not clogging up the general chat with "it wasnt me" bullshite!

And the point is you can say lovely comments of your shiney turd! :D

Mixed feelings about a spotted thread, obviously don't want regular locations advertised but then it is good to find local zoners, spotted a beautiful grey 325i just down the road from where I work, sure I have seen it on here before the plates have a foreign looking font but still a UK F reg
