Hi folks,

I am going to replace the injectors on my m20b25 soon, is there a good way of cleaning all the oily crud away from around the manifold injector holes without it getting into the cylinders?

Also, i'll be replacing some old fuel hoses at the same time. Is part # 21 (13311709577) necessary or can i just run new hose straight from the hard lines to whatever is on the other end?

Try spraying carb cleaner to remove the gunge - aerosol cans of it usually give quite a powerful blast of it, and it's only around £5 a can.

When I had to replace a leaking fuel hose on my 325i, the dealer told me it's best to use the pre-formed hoses, as the standard hose is liable to kink and restrict the fuel delivery.

So, you're probably best off using that connector piece along with the correct pre-formed bits of hose.

I'll either use carb cleaner or CRC, whatever is handy. The question is how best to block the manifold holes with the injectors removed before the cleaning.

Re the fuel hose under the bonnet i have one preformed piece and the rest is high pressure hose as supplied by Pelican, so definitely the correct stuff.

On first look the connector piece is redundant, but BMW dont usually seem to do things badly.

I would be inclined to find some bolts or steel rod/wood dowel the same size as the injectors to use as plugs to block off the holes.
