hello,
so the other day i discovered a large amount of water in the side pockets of my boot as i removed the carpet i found theses vent like things. i was wondering what they are for and is it a common place for letting water in??

Those pipes are the rear sunroof drains, so they drain the roof by trickling the water through a hole behind the bumper.

By the looks of your picture, you're getting a rusty seam under the rear lights. So I'd suggest it's the seal behind the rear lights, which is very common on these old turds.

Cool thanks for that I'll check them out. Don't want to be lugging all that water around any more. Are these seals something you can purchase on there own??

Check that the drain holes in the bottom of the boot wells are clear, too.

These drain holes are for factory use, and shouldn't be open after the car has left the factory. They are supposed to be blocked with sealant.

Before you start throwing money at the car based on zero evidence, pull out the boot liners and sprinkle talcum powder everywhere.
Wherever water enters the boot, it will leave telltale streaks in the powder, indicating whichever of the dozen or so potential water leak problems you have.

As the boot seal seems to leak if you park facing slightly down hill I think it is good idea to keep the drains clear. No evidence of sealant on my two cabs. But it may well have been removed.
