Pure dreamer. It's worth scrap metal value, and with the holes in that thing, it's not going to weigh a lot!

Bargain if you want early VIN plate! he wont get the 895 maybe half! but some people have plenty of £££ and like the old stuff best! It will be a zoner! :D

that's owned by a zoner and the reason he has that price on it is that it is believed to be the earliest E30 in existence. it's a nightmare but is worth saving for historical reasons and that is why he came up with that price.

he's not chancing it too much, he did ask for advice on here before he put it up for sale.

Early henna red 323i's are a whole load of win.

I reckon it's not to far over and about what I'd start offers at. It has the potential to be very special. :cool:

According to Andrew Everett's E30 Restoration Bible, one of the first UK E30s (with the TRX xxxY number plates) is still alive and well with a collector in Scotland. That's the earliest surviving UK one. Think it was one of the first 10 built and sold in the UK. If it was whole 6 years ago so I assume it'll still be in existence.

I wonder how much that one is worth ?

It's been raped of of some bits now as well.

Even as potentially the earliest E30 in existance, it is £500 max to me anyway. That is a proper rotter.

I'm pretty sure all the press cars from the launch in Spain (the TRX cars) are dead unless one is in a lock up somewhere. The one Andy is referring to is UBL44Y which belongs to a zoner (hennabm) and was a longterm test car in Motor magazine. The original articles from Motor are published in one on the Brooklands 3 Series Portfolio books.

talk of a re shell- if you re shelled that, well whats left of it, what parts would you re shell ? , not a bloody lot, more or less just make a ringer with the vin- youd still need a henna red car to re shell it in to, or have to do a full 100% strip bare shell paint job on another car to make a henna red- so whats the point ?

preserving a piece of e30 history, also that shell as bad as it looks could be fixed, if you can weld and dotn have to pay someone else to do it, youd end up with a very early and desirable e30.

of course, but it will only be a bit of e30 history is you keep that shell, and even then the work needed wil be very extensive, only worthwhile if like you say- you can do a lot of mechanics, welding, and the paint and have the suitable work space ,really that shell will need a full strip and dipping and everything and all new panels, a full bare shell re spray, then if you do that ideally it will need a lot of new trim to look right, a ful engine re build and god knows how many new mechanical parts, an almighty and very expensive task,hundreds of man hours, crikey, there wouldnt be much/if anything original left once youd finished

spot on fella, and iv pretty much been there brought a mk2 rs2000 for £500 (about 10 years ago now) the engine was chuffing blue smoke, all the arches were none existant, alot of trim was missing, chassis rails holed floor pans almost gone. but after amny hours graft on the body by myself, and the services of an engine builder i know it was back on the road in 6 months and i now believe lives in ireland :)

as you say though if you can do it yoruself your on to a winner, but if you ahd to pay someoen to do that level of work well youd be in for a very hefty bill.

each to there own though, i think iv spent to much time welding rusty heaps :mad:

can you see it being done ?

realisticly- its not like its one of the 1st M3`s or alpinas, its a 323i chromie , would be nice if it was saved- but future value/sale value wouldnt be like what m3/alpina would be, only a true enthusiast or someone with real sentimental value to a henna 323i would undertake such a task

its a shame really that people choose to break for profit, alpinas and such, rather than save them or let someone else

realistically bud, no because iv seen cars with far less issues been broken, :eek:

i was really just talking from my point of view, in that iv welded up far worse (maybe),

i totally get what your saying about value, but i reckon when MK2 escorts and mk1s started going up in price no one reckoned on the lesser models such as the sports and poplar etc going up as well but in fact any2 door escort shell is big money now, terminally rotten or not.

but to be honest i wouldnt fix a car purely for profit anyway, i think im just stupidly sentimental over old metal :D

yeah man, although all the e30 breaking going on- 2 door e30s will have their day, i have a mk3 escort although going to part with it- wish i had storage space to put it away for 10 years !!!

not purley for profit-but puting such time and money in to an m3 or alpina or sport even, your still going to have a car worth quite a bit, like some of the early escorts if you have a car thats going to be worth 10-15 or more grand, its worth doing and maybe sort of breaking even ish in the end should you ever sell or in cases making a profit

BTW, the owner isn't an idiot IMO because before the other Henna car popped up just days later (number 45) this was the oldest known RHD E30 so was/is an historic car.

Waffle all you want about not much left of it, he has done the right thing "offering" it up for resto, if it goes over the scales nobody can say he didn't give anyone chance to rescue it.
