Needed to share my pain with you guys..

So whilst visiting some extended family the week before last, I
was awoken whilst having fallen asleep at their flat in East London, last Monday morning, to this gut wrenching scene;

Image

Image

Image

Just got the car back onto the road after spending over 1200 quid with BMW getting it serviced and all the belts, brakes etc, done and was really looking forward to this summer...

So apparently what happened was , some dude was off his trolley on Jack Daniels and decided to drive into my parked car, and my cousin's parked A3

the stupid tw*t turned out not only to be unable to grasp a single word of the English language but it turned out he lived 2 doors down..and then abandoned his stupid polo and ran into his flat..

after calling the police, who turned up.............. after 4 hours, bloke was eventually nicked for driving under the influence, criminal damage & being UNINSURED..

F*kks sake

been trying to get this sorted but its turning out to be extremely painful..

my insurance aren't being helpful in pursuing it all they'd rather i claim of my own policy and pay them an inflated excess of 1500 because apparently its in the small print... they can change it from 500 to 1500 because they feel like shafting me...

worst thing, after raining like stupid for 4 weeks, summer has decided to show up today.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggghh!!!

javascript:emoticon(':x')

Had the car taken back up north and need to spend some time to understand how bad it really is..
my major concern is the orange auto gearbox light that now comes on, on the main dash..and the different fluids that escaped from somewhere around the engine..

i couldn't believe it the p*nis must have hit it at some real speed as the passenger side front alloy has also been bent , from where it smashed into the kerb...

guttted.

Gutted for you.

Hope you can get it repaired fairly easily - doesn't look too bad, and could have been alot worse. At least you caught the culprit.

At least you know where he lives... Most times this sorta thing happens, the guy is never even caught.

I'd be planning a little reccy round his place next time he's out... see if he's got anything of any value to cover your inflated excess winkeye

really gutted for you mate, hope it all gets sorted easily. i believe if your involved in an accident with a uninsured driver its the MIB(motor insurance bureau) that compensate, heres their number 0800 587 4478. my mate works for a accident claims company so can get more advice from him if need be.

I don't know how you remained calm in that situation.

I would have done some f*cking damage!

Body wise It looks to be external only but as there is suspension damage and possibly engine/box if there is fluid loss you can pretty much garuntee it will be written off even if you manage to convince the insurance company it's worth 5-7k that some motorsports go for.

Best of getting a cash in lieu payout and getting it repaired yourself as this will stop it receiving a Cat C or D and will cost less to repair that what the insurance company will quote.

If you manage to convince the insurance company it's worth say £6k then you might get £2-3k cash in lieu payout which should be more than enough to repair it.

As for you ins company not playing ball and chassing up a claim, speak to e30beemerlad on here as he may be able to help with this.

Thanks dude !

I did speak to someone who suggested the same thing but she said the MIB would only really get involved when personal injury was inflicted...

and as i was in the land of nod when the accident occurred , which is what i, for some reason, told the police, i don't think they can pursue it...

worth a phone call i guess !!

Make a claim through the MIB, it'll take ages before you get paid out, but you'll only get bummed for a £300 excess.

If you want it doing quickly, then use your insurers, but you'll have to pay your massive excess and there's sod all chance you'll get that back from your neighbour.

Get some repair estimates sorted.

the fluid loss is a bit of a worry, could it have cracked the steering rack casing or something?

must have been a hell of a smack to damage the wheel on the other side too. :(
cheers,

That's a terrible shame chap, sorry to see it.

Prats like this drunken fool should get penalised more directly for sh!t like this... There's never any proper justice to whom suffers worse from a situation such as this.. ie you.

Hope you get it sorted..

If this immigrant scrote has a legitimate job they might order him to pay some compensation, but I bet he wont. A ban and some points on his licence is about the worst he will get, not that I expect he will stop driving, just change address/name

I got T boned at a junction also and it took nearly a year for the 3rd party insurance to cough up

He must have properly twatted that, it may take a while but you will get paid out by the MIB just got to deal with the aggro of it, i've been there myself

My 328 was parked up outside my mates shop and a pissed C**t in a mondeo must have drifted into it and just glanced my rear quarter but then hit the rear wheel and that's what stopped him totally crushed my BBS in half and did 2.5K of suspension damage, new rear wheel was £400 alone.

I ran out to the car scrapping down the road until he came to a stop, as i ran to the car he was trying to start it up, i opened the door and he went what's wrong, he was steaming and i had to grab the keys out of the ignition then he started going mental trying to stab me with a screwdriver through the top of the door so i leaned all my weight on the door and pinned his arm to the car till he f**cking screamed, I had to keep him there until the police arrived he was going mad trying to get out, when they up they didn't even bother to breathalize him at the scene just straight in the van.

Turned out it was his old mans car he'd taken without him knowing, he wasn't insured and already on a drink drive ban, think he got a 3 year ban and 3 year suspended sentence, luckily his old mans insurance sorted my car

The mondeo front wheel had been pushed back nearly half way through the passenger door so god knows how fast he was going, just thought that could have been a person he hit

Really sorry to see this mate, It makes my pish bubble just as much as if it were my car when I see things like this. If you get caught drink driving you get banned, fined etc but if you cause injury, or damage such as this, I think jailtime should be mandatory. Either this or the po-po should turn a blind eye to personal retribution!

There seem to be a lot of calm and collected zoners around! I had a bloke pull into the side of my cossie on the m5 and sent me into an 80mph spinning fest. I'm not proud but he ended up covered in blood lying in the hard shoulder and it wasn't from the crash! How I got away with that I'll never know. He must have felt guilty enough not to press charges!

Hope the cab isn't too poorly mate, and best of luck getting it back to glory with minimum headaches!
