Just had to fire the car from pin 11 and 14 in the diagnostic socket.
No fuses gone and it fires up fine from the diagnostic socket but not from the key, i did get it to work a couple of times from the key after jumping the socket pins but itwas 2 out of about 20 tries.
Imobiliser is functioning fine as it swithches other things allong with the ecu and they all function fine.

Any common issues that could cause this?
The solanoid on the motor is the relay is it not? Therefore the only thing left is the ignition barrel right?

Plug and socket half way down the steering column, where the black wire changes to black/yellow not pushed together properly isn't unheard of, but the switch is the most likely cause.
You can test at this socket to confirm. Short plain red to black/yellow - Does the same as 11 and 14, but involves a bit more of the wiring loom.
