trying to buy a proper M20 2.5, and I've been offered one from an E34. I know the sump, dipstick and loom are different, so can I swap those over from my E30's M20B20?

Also, what about the AFM? Is it the same one for E34 and E30?

I'm pretty confident that you can swap them all over but does the sump need changing? Afterall it's the E34 sump that's used on M50/M52 swaps.

AFM should be the same also.

Yeah, I've got no consistent info on the sump. The Restoration Bible mentions that they're incompatible, but there's plenty of Yank forums saying that you can plug the hole and use E34 sumps on E30s, so maybe this is a RHD/LHD thing? If so, that's great for me since the car's LHD, but I could do with some confirmation.

Also, the E34 alternator has an air vent!

I can confirm the E34 sump fits; the engine went in today with no complications. And that's on a LHD, so the steering pipes are on the same side as the dipstick.
