i had an interior exactly like that in my old 318i in 2000. bought for £150 off ad trader. Came out a flooded 320 2dr. How it got there who knows!

Just that some people are a lot better at it than others.
A mint or very good m3 shell will always be worth good money, no doubt more than you can buy a complete but rotten one for.
