I would dicount any sensors mate, it seems to be running fine on the cylinders that are actually firing, Those pots have either got no fuel or no spark. Check leads are in the right place first, thats the easiest thing to do.

IMO worse case scenario is injector loom but even that isn't end of the world stuff. Then again it could be catastrophic internal failure

Not entirely sure on the m30, all I know is that you can unplug it on the m42 not that that is any help whatsoever

Another thought prehaps its low on fuel, the light is on
I know m20s run similar when they're running on the dregs

Injector is part of the main loom and cant be removed, check with an earpiece if each injector is 'clicking'.

Managed to get it running on 6 cylinders today
Turned out to be one of the injectors not plugged in correctly
little video

I also wired up the leccy fan to an aircon switch, ive got a dan the loom but didnt have instructions with me
Ive put all the seats etc and tested all lights all seems ok, fitted old washer bottle for mot as i need a little bung for the 324td one as it has two places for the pump.
i also adjusted the TPS however, it seems to die slightly before reving when you are at idle and try to rev it.
Also whilst running at idle the temp guage was going to 3/4 it may have gone more if i left it but settled around there. this was with the fan on (yes its blowing in not sucking)
Prehaps the fact that the heater matrix isnt connected and the top hose has a slight leak wont be helping things aswell as it being 23 degrees

Ready for mot

Leak on top hose

Anyway this is the most worrying
i hope this clears once i start using it. the previous owner did the head gasket so prehaps its just left in the oil ?

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Popular thermostats for M30's are normally 80 degree, temp gauge should sit between quarter and half way if your saying its at 3/4 on the gauge with the fan running something aint right.
Is the system bled properly?
That mayo on the filler cap looks more like condensation to me, wipe it off and see how much comes back.
Good news you got it running though.
but what the fook is that induction set up your rockin.

The Induction kit is temp incase the airbox doesnt come for mot time. Hose is coming tomorrow in post paid for super dooper royal mail extra special delivery
Best part is its Booked in for MOT thursday Morning at 9.00 Am
No Pressure, hope it passes

IF it passes on Thursday its a call to My insurance to properly swop it over (getting temp insurance for MOT ) get them to fax me a copy of my ins then off to tax it.
Then i can get it all ready sunday for York

Glad you got your hose sorted. I had one explode sitting in the glossop tailback after the snake pass. It was about 9pm & luckily a friend came from stoke with the one from his car, his GF drove an evo7 with some 'subtle' mods I barely had time to think & they screeched up with hose & coolant..

Nightmare, just about to order some new plugs, oil, air filter etc etc.
New thermostat just to be on the safe side
Think i might go for 15w-40 in this old anchor ?
Also could do with a proper battery, the 60ah one ive got isnt great, sometimes just dies and looses charge

More scrap arrived today

Been out to car got it running with my 318i battery as i charged the one that came with the car and it was no good, i found a few leaks from where i attached the heater matrix up, the pipe i used was too big so i removed it and put it back the way it was.
With the new hose and more coolant added it sits at between half and quarter on the temp guage.
ive put another battery i have on charge, again not a brilliant one but its a bigger capacity one
Mot in the morning, i hope it gets there in one piece

The switch does mate and if you have recently operated the hazard switch this may be the issue.Alex wrote:i didnt think they hazards effected the indicators, i will try a decent switch and see what that does
