so here goes with a new project in the making

with buying a new shell from magpie which i am collecting monday

so i bought this a few months ago

Image
Image

i paid £700 for a s14a with running issues, turned out to be bottom ends slight rattle, cams knackered, oil spray bars blocked...

so with a company well recommended MnM engineering, they took the shell in part exchange for a rebuild... so they took the engine out done all bearings, new cams, cleaned out the spray bars, lifters and sent it back to me....

they sold me a loom all ready to just splice into my loom with just a permanent live and switch live, and a few other wires i will have to do, no nats ! which is a result...

so as they stripped it with the parts i needed i started to clean cleaned a few parts, but more to come. so here is the very start of what i have done so far....

Image

will update on monday !

I really must stop looking at jap turbo e30s :( Whats the plan for the car - fast road car or purely aimed for the track?

nope i am aiming for fast road, i used my old e30 for sliding and it was rotten when i started with it, so now i aim to make it nice simple and fast...

already i have eibach front and rear adjustable arb's, 2 really nice rally design bucket seats, sparco harnesses...

For the rear suspension gaz adjustable shocks as there really good for value and are top quality, rear springs not sure on make as of yet. front i will try and get coilovers by gaz as they seem fair priced for what they are..

i will need an uprated fuel pump, or the original s14 pump modified to go in the tank not sure as of what to do yet..

will have an ultimate sleeper style but no stupid modifications as im not about that, i love simple looking styled cars, so lets see what happens .....

There are a few other sr e30's on here and other high power e30s that I'm sure you can see what they've done with the fuel pump. An uprated one will definitely be needed though!

Definitely looking forwards to it anyway :D

ye i phoned them just to see and they said 2-3k as i already had my loom done and some other bits done so i thought it was quite pricey !

but still its such an easy conversion in my eyes thats what made me do it, apart from the price of the engine its not dear to do at all ! well tomorrow will be shell time, then tuesday mocking up the engine mounts and bits so i cannot wait......

well from all the setups i have seen, its either to put in a heat shield or to move it closer to the turret.. i have seen quite a few that have done nothing ! not move or put a heat shield in !

so for the moment till i see how close it really is then i will go from there with it.

right after advertising the engine and the car not much interested so im going to fire away and do this within the next week or 2...

so i have a few questions i need to find answers for...

i need to find what legs to use.. 2.5 or the original 1.6 ?

does the 1.6 d reg chromie use a internal fuel pump or external ?

thats all for now so any help on them will be great thanks ;)

Use the 2.5 legs as they house the better, thicker dampers.

The 316 carb uses a mechanical fuel pump on the engine if I remember correctly.

yes i found that the pump is internal, so going to use a external pump, i know the 2.5 legs are better but was not sure how to go about it being a 4 pot and light as the 2.5 is heavy, but realised the 1.8is have the bigger struts ! lol
