My cousin had a G plate 318i as a company car in 1990 which I quite liked, I drove and quite liked a black G plate 320i that was in for bodywork a couple of times in 1994 when i worked for a Ford Dealer.

Then I joined a company in late 1995 where the directors had a 735i and a 535i and after a couple of drives in them I started looking for a 6 pot E30 and that was that :D

Ah, so it's not just me who fell in love with M-cars because of that one film.

I fell in love with E30's when I was around 8/9. I'm now 18 and still don't own one :(

Hopefully I'll rectify this next year. I'm determined to make an E30 my first car.
Aww man uv taken over as youngest on the forum, im 19 haha, welcome child!
Its funny we were both probably sat infront of the tv at the exact same time thinking the exact same thing. Nice to see another scottish zoner aswell, theres a fair few of us.
I've always been the youngest on the forum. Been here since 2010 :D

Aye, we probably were sat down at the same time drooling over the lovely scream of the S14 engine. :thumb:

remember being a yougster when my auties then boyfriend bought her a baby blue 318iS on a H as a gift. i would have been around 9 years old and i remember standing round it in complete awe of it. a beautiful looking thing she was (not the auntie) and i remember thinking i really want one when im older.!
but having a delusional father who hated bmw's as he didnt get along with aunties boyfriend lol and fords were the way, i'd had that drummed into me.

years later i purchased my first, was 2003 whan i picked up a black 4 door 325i chromie. loved that car but tinworm and not deep enough pockets (thousands estimated) put an end to that. ive had another 2 since but wouldnt part with the current car for love nor money.!

ive since tried to conversate with my father about these but it turns into an argument as hes a dickhead and still stuck in his ways. ah well, atleast i know of the greatness of these cars and the pleasure i get from driving one. he can keep his ford galaxy hahaha
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

According to my mother, when children were being pushed around in the they would say things like "red car, blue car" etc etc where as I would be saying things like "red Ford, blue BMW" etc etc.

For as long as I can remember I have had an obsession with cars.

I had always been into fast Fords and admired the German makes from a young age, these brands dominated my toy cars I had. A family holiday to a village south of Munich near the austrian border in '89 meant I saw an abundance of German metal predominantly BMW.

Fast forward to when I started to drive and it was a string of fast Fords before I bought my first BMW, oddly an E23 728i SE just before I turned 19!

It wasnt until I was 22 that I bought my first E30, a black d reg 2dr 325i and from then on I have owned all manner Of BMW's including several E30's.

I will never sell my current one and will most likely own some more! :D

First E30 was 1994 when I was 21. It was a 1989 320i SE 2 door in Alpine White II. Had to park it up as business mileage rates didn't cover fuel costs ! Sold it about 7 years later after it had stood for 6 years. Had always wanted a 325i cabby with rear headrests and/or a 325i Sport in Tech II trim.

I've got a cabby in 2008 and sport in 2009/10. Problem is my itch isn't totally scratched...... winkeye

What do I like about them - when I was 17 (1990) the car I dreamt of having was a BMW E30 and that hasn't left me, even though 21 years have passed. It's the looks and the straight 6 at 5000 rpm.

I got in to BMW E30 when about 1989 i think.......when my old man had a beautiful E30 320i 4-door chrome B599 YHV from BMW Park Lane with Check-Control, Digital Clock, chequered cloth interior, smelt good too in Diamond Black (or maybe Schwartz Black if that exists?) but the paint was really really great.......so i would have been about 6 or 7. And i drew pictures in primary school too of the exterior and the interior from memory......my dream car back then was the BMW 325i :D

Me too! My mum said when I was in my pushchair I apparently used to make her stop at every parked car and read the boot script to me, this was before my speech was fully developed and the first car name I recited was 'cagalier' (had trouble with my V's!

My gran always reminds me of a time when she took me in a taxi at the age of 2, and was proudly telling the driver how I could identify any car. Inevitably he asked me what his car was, and I replied with 'an old banger' he laughed and said 'he's not wrong!'

Incidentally it was a Nissan bluebird :D

When I was born and came out of hospital my dad had an e30 320i 2 door in red, which my Mum convinced him to buy over the crap fords he was always buying, got brought home in that, and it went from there really, my Dads had nothing but BMW's since, and i've never wanted any other make. Had a rover metro for 6 months after my test, then got my e30 316i 2 door off my sister in law, still got it at 22, my mums owned it on an off aswell. I had an e34 525i sport for 2 years when I was 18 aswell.

i got a G plate 318i as a company car when i was 18 and wasn't loving it, only because my manager had a 325i and i'd driven it before i got mine.. just felt gutless! But it did impress my friends who had £200 mini's and fiesta's:)

then i got the bug in 2006 when a mate and me were playing fantasy car buying - a supposed budget of £300 and it had to be fast.. i found a very badly advertised 325i on an E plate with a years ticket, and it was 4 miles from me....

... so f@ck it, i bought it! and i'm now on my 4th. i've owned the E plate, then a 320i G plate that was kitted out with crazy cams and so badly maintained it dropped body parts when driving on a bumpy road, a 323i that i part-exed with jhonno for his E36 328 when the auto box went on the 323, and now i'm in another 325i. i did get a classic 900 turbo for a bit but missed the E30 too much.

my next stop will be an E30 convertible.. maybe this year.. who knows! :)

Haha quality. Knew ur cars well already. Mine did the same then eventually I would be telling her the cars. I member my parents had a mk1 seat ibiza injection that I loved as a kid and cried when they swapped it for a vaginal leakage red diesel citreon zx. From then on I decided id never own such a woeful car
