Hi everyone,

I have a post running asking for information on 320is's at the moment and as a spin off from that I would like advice on suspension.

The general consensus appears to be that the 320is is a cracking car BUT not a M3 and that the suspension could be improved.... hence this topic.

Now, I want a car that is fun to drive and comfortable NOT a racing car on the road.

Can I buy and fit M3 standard suspension? If so what would I need? and, will it be alot more expensive than say the H&R cup suspension or Bilstein Sprintline suspension. I do appreciate that the M3 suspension is more than just springs and dampers, hence the earlier question about the M3 suspension.

What have you done to improve your non M3 suspension?

If you can get it, you can do a straight swap for all M3 running gear.

I have the H&R 60/40 cup kit on my 325 cab. Definately increases driving pleasure and it is NOT that "highly strung" so that it feels like a racing car. There is no bone jarring when you hit a pot hole or a bump in the road, goes over speed bumps easily but cornering is what the springs are made for ... it's like they push back against the force being exerted.
Highly recommended.

How much lower are these kits? Do you have any problems with teh wheels rubbing the arches (inner or outer?).

60/40 means it is lower by 60mm at the front and 40mm at the back but in reality it is less than that. I run 15" BBS wheels with 205/55 tyres and there is no rubbing at all.
