I need to sort out the suspension on my '88 318i. It's currently on 17" Alpina reps, but is a bit too low for my liking.

I'd like to maintain a bit of a drop, but am finding the suspension options mind-boggling! The three types of Bilstein shocks for instance...

would I be able to run B4's with lower springs (Eibachs?) or would I need to get the B6/B8s?

Any other options worth looking at, bearing in mind I've not got oodles to spend

Those big old heavy Alpina reps wont be doing any new suspension any favours dude, and yes you can run B4s with Eibachs

b8's & eibachs, but not really budget. As the old addage goes, you get what you pay for. Personally I'd get a different wheel if you do get a decent setup, bk's are a bit on the heavy side. Depends what sort of driving you do, to warrant the spend. 15" bbs with b8's -35mm eibachs is more than adequate for road use

I'd much rather have 15" BBS tbh, mostly drive A roads and a spot of country road stuff.
I do find the ride on the 17s a bit tough and I'm bored of approaching speed humps with clenched teeth!

Right so we're all agreed on dumping the 17s...anyone got any BBS lying around? ;)
