Ok chaps found out why my differential has the occasional thud.. the bush has torn a hole big enough to fit 3 fingers through.
Question is, shall I get a powerflex bush or shall I go OEM?
Powerflex is on ebay now for 21 quid..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWERFLEX-REA ... 4250wt_823
Also... do we have a write up? Can I change them with the diff in place?

Stick with OEM.

undo the bolt going throught the bush (19mm i think), drain oil, undo bolts holding the back plate on, remove backplate, cut/hammer bush out, fit new one, reverse to put it back together.... correct me if i'm wrong?

Isn't there a way of lowering the diff slightly just past the 19mm chassis mount and doing it that way?

You need to take the cover off as its pressed into the cover, the cover is cast ally so you have to be careful, no hammering like a loony! You will need to re-gasket the cover after and its best to fill with fresh oil.
Standard bush is perfectly good enough, its lasted long enough already

No real advantage in using these on any E30 that isn't pushing out 100 bhp more than intended IMHO. Ordinary OE BMW bush will be perfectly adequate.penton08 wrote:It was a great upgrade until BMW trebled the price!!SGP wrote:Z3 bush is a nice oem upgrade (stiffer)

What's wrong with the power flex diff bush? I've replaced all the other suspension bushes with power flex and been very impressed with the results.

That's because you replaced clapped out OE with brand new plastic.
If you replace the plastic with brand new OE, you'll be more impressed still!
Friction and compliance (lack of) are the problems with plastic.

I fitted a Z3M bush to mine last year, it was cheaper than the original E30 part at £27.80 from Cotswold with free delivery, the part number is 33.17.2.228.425.
