I wouldn't have thought it to be too difficult.
Welding would depend on where exactly you have rust.
How much was the new battery tray?

It's a bit of an arse of a job. I did mine myself and took my time to get it right. I cut off the chassis leg section on the new piece as I didn't see the point. I also did away with the shocking rust trap that is the tow eye.

Yeah, don't think I can do it so I'm looking for someone who can do this job. The battery tray was £75.77 German order , it took 5 or 6 days to arrive.

nickso, looking at the pictures I understand that yours in a boot, mine is in front.

All e30's technically have a front and rear battery tray but only use one depending on the car. Of course a rear batterry car will have the plastic tray to actually fit the battery.

Not sure (certainly haven't checked) but I wouldn't imagine the front tray is available on its own as it's part of the inner wing/bulkhead.

Front battery tray is part 41111929429, and is welded in as part of the bulkhead.

Right rear chassis leg with part of boot floor is part 41111961710, but needs the inner wheel arch and the battery carrier to make the whole rear box.

All metal parts on E30s are welded except the front wings, front valance, boot lid, sunroof and doors. More info here:
