Before I carry out what may be over the top I thought it prudent to ask for any suggestions.

The nut that secures the bolt to the bracket will no longer hold the bolt tightly and thus a rattling tailgate ie. threaded.
Not sure how well secured that nut is but knowing my luck if I try and use a tap and go one up the nut will spin.

Couple of pics to understand what I mean.

The offending nut I have carefully highlighted with the skill of a 6 month old finger painter.

Sorry for the poor pics for some strange reason the sun is visible.

Cheers for the idea diable :thumb:

With enough tape to hide the thread on the bolt and it still doesn't bite.

Stainless plate, two 8mm nuts and a welder maybe the way forward.
This list of things to sort is bloomin' endless.

A new ford focus 1.0 is looking even more tempting with every passing day, more power than a M20b25 and over twice the economy 200 miles from 60 notes is starting to wear thin.
