Has anyone had or running any eBay coilovers? I know they're cheap but times are hard and I dont think I can wait.
I know that some coilovers you have to cut and weld rather than bolt on. Are the eBay coilys bolt on? As I don't fancy any cutting and welding, I really trust it. If they're not bolt on does anyone know the cheapest set that are bolt on?

No offence but a 40mm drop is 40mm! Get a tape measure and some imagination dude. You can also look at other cars that have a 40mm drop in the photo section and decide if that's right for you. Anything more than 40mm drop is terrible in my opinion with regards to handling and comfort.

Hmmm I know what your saying. What sort of price am I looking at for a set of 40mm springs? I want to run 16" wheels with 205/45 tyres. I've seen you can get adjustable spring sets, this may be the way until more funds come around. Won't the standard shocks be to soft? Or get "kanckered" because of the height?
No. 40mm on standard shocks is fine. Go lower than 40mm and you would need shortened shocks.
40mm drop is the best compromise.

Don't forget, the advertised 'drop' on lowering springs will have different results on different cars. If your car's got its original springs still they're likely to be 20 years old and fatigued meaning the car may well already be sitting lower than 'standard'. So you might well find that an advertised 40mm 'drop' might only end up lowering your car by 20mm for example.
Height adjustable coilovers are probably the best way to get the exact ride height you're looking for because they can be infinitely adjusted pretty much. Depends what you want to achieve really - the nicest looking height, or the best handling.

Yeah I am still undecided on this, do you know anyone that has done the "cut and weld" surely it's not good especially if it isn't perfectly straight, it could put all sorts out of line. What are the cheapest coilovers that come with stub axles and hubs attached anyone know?
I don't personally know anyone who has welded coilovers but I've seen various people on here do it and have no complaints. I see your point though, and would also personally favour something prefabricated that could be assembled without having to cut/weld - unfortunately I don't know of any myself...

im running cheap ebay coilovers and they are fine. Bought them without looking into it but im happy with them. And they are really easy to install no cutting or welding involved with the pro sports

no you use the bottom half of the 51mm struts and the adjuster bit just screws into the strut where the old shock used to be. its easy to do mate ive only got basic tools

im not sure what the drop is to be honest mate they go low enough for what i wanted. they are only height adjustable.
