I'm just down the road in Sudbury and did an M30 conversion last year, unfortunately I am too busy to take the swap on myself though. What is actually wrong with the engine? Do you have a spare to go in?

If the engine needs to be swapped I can recommend Angus Buchanan Workshops in Leavenheath on 01206 262556. It's not likely to be cheap but they'll do a great job.

+1 for Angus Buchanan http://www.angusbmw.co.uk (a little eccentric but have generations of experience)

There is also BBB in between Colchester and Ipswich 01473 827730 / http://bigbavarianbeauties.com/

Both websites have project galleries

Hi Robor, im actually even nearer im in gestingthorpe just outside Sudbury. problem is i cant get the cooling system bled properly, believe me ive tried. ive come to the conclusion theres an air leak into the water way somewhere. it passed a coolant test, it runs proper temps but blows coolant out when you turn it off, and fills the expansion tank with bubbles whebn turned off. ok when running but whilst we were trying to bleed it we couldnt stop bubbles coming out of the bleed screw. Its a bugger as its a track car and i thought it was finally finished!!!

Hi Zaust, being done saturday, had a long hard week this week, i'll do it saturday and see what i get but we spent over an hour and a half trying to bleed it last saturday, it was jacked up, we lifted the header tank 2 ft, tried blowing the coolant through , all to bleed it and we still got bubbles through the bleed screw. then turn it off and a cascade of bubbles into the header tank, ive resigned to the fact i'll have to put a new lump in it so im going to get another one and just put it, or get somone to put it in for me. What i really want is for somebody with a good working engine to put it in and get it up and running for me. Im a bit fed up cos i hoped it was gonna be all good so i can get the megasquirt set up, then it s done.

Well if it passes the cylinder leak test its most likely a cracked block. If it shows a leak then head gasket is an easy job on these but the 1200 mile run in is a pain

thats what i thought, but the easy way is just to replace the engine i reckon, the head had already been done so im guessing its the block
