Is it wrong to use an E30 daily?
Moderator: martauto
my e30 is my daily its 325 so 16 to 32 mpg cost me £300 with a years test and 6 months tax and was (is) a steaming turd ive had it 5 years and its let me down once and that was an old alarm i didnt know was on the car so not really the cars fault
best of all its payed for no monthly payments and at £300 its not losing any more value

Thanks so much for all the response and helpful advice! This is probably the most welcoming and informative forum I've been on.
I think I'm going to wait 'til I get a company car or maybe buy a little run around in the near future and buy a 325 as a toy/project.
With mentions of these becoming collectable, it could be a good time to buy one in good nick and make it a minter!

i use my e30 as a daily, fuel can be an issue as said but then you cant beat the sound the silcky 6's give off.
my first e30 years ago was a 325i chromie on a C, she had 197,000 miles and still pulled like a train!! end of life was een through the dredded tin worm, this was the first i'd bought so i didnt know what to look for so finding a tidy shell is key, mechanicals can either be serviced or replaced with no bother.
after the things ive done to my current car, ive found that these cars are so well built and charmingly put together, not difficult to work on at all. regular servicing and maintanence will see one of these things outlast some modern cars and return so much more pleasure when driven.
ive found the pleasure out weighs the pain, i get to drive my fav car every day and if it goes wrong fix it up and carry on motoring.
so in summary, keep ontop of maintanance and enjoy motoring the way its supposed to feel as a posed to the bland and borring euro boxes of today. no comparrison really

Well said. Look after them and they are miles better than the new stuff in terms of looks and fun factor, (unless its a 4 door auto or a badly done M3 'rep').
Tech1 Sport, 318is, Rare Escort 1.3 RS turbo, Rust perventing BShitter.
i had a volvo S80 T6 to mend it i had to have the dealers lap top on it every time
it was only 5 years old !! when the ABS module went south that cost me £900 just for the module plus the dearlers time and then the value the volvo lost in that year i had it

i ran my 325i baur as a daily and tbh i struggled to justify the fuel costs..its a thirsty beast as much as i luv it. So ive bought a 318is , got it 4 days ago and im loving using it as a daily. Im getting 30 to 32 mpg round the doors and got a staggering 45mpg when i drove it 280 miles back from london last sunday.
I would defo recommend getting a 318is...cracking engine...great to drive..and they are getting rare and desirable.
