My chip for my 1988 325 turned up today! i was very happy untill I unbolted my ECU to find out I don't have a Motronic ECU which my chip is designed for

My ECU is about half the size with a number 0 265 103 004. Can you still get chips for these? If so can anyone tell me what I'm after. It seems that all the chips are soldered in too!

Where did you find this ECU? Under steering column?

Thats the ABS ECU.

Look under the steering column and youll find your ECU for that chip.

Well I'm happy now! I have the right chip! and I know what the inside of the ABS box looks like! Gonna fit it tomorrow morning now, it's a bit cold out there!

Slightly off topic, but I had my glovebox apart recently to re-wire my non working electric aerial, and perhaps around the same time, the ABS warning light came on, and has not gone off... maybe I knocked the plug on the ECU up there?? Food for thought.. ropeman may have done me a great service with this thread..
Cheers mate.

No probs, I'm glad my stupidity has been an aid to someone else! :D

Chips fitted and the car starts (which is good) Have to go to work now which is a 2 - 3 min walk, so I wont get to try the car till this eve :(
