Exhaust gearbox mount

What have you used for hanging the exhaust to the gearbox? There used to be one on my m42 box specific to the m42 exhaust, 325's also have one specific to them as does the M3. I'm running a M3 exhaust and m42 box, will the M3 one bolt up?

With the weight of the middle section I'd like to take some stress of the manifolds and have it suspended/hung from the box as it's meant to be.

Happend to find this earlier, will this work on the M42 box? Pic of a 320 underside

i havent buddy but mines all homemade 2x2" into 1 2.5" for rest of system holds up solid as fook now

The M3 one may bolt up, but it depends on how modded the pipes are for the conversion.
If not, use the part that bolts to gearbox as normal (no.4 in the pic below) and weld the no.7 part (or custom tab) to the pipes so it can bolt together. I say about using a custom tab, basically I mean making your own 'no.7' part that can be welded to both pipes if you prefer, that lines up with the mount that hangs off the gearbox.

There's some weight in the M3 middle section I wouldn't like it dangling of the manifold and rear beam. You prob don't have all the middle boxes then?

I just realised I forgot the picture last night... it's n my previous post now.

I've had Dan mod my manifolds and he has given me two pipes that slide over them which need to be cut and have the flange welded on. I'm not even sure if a M20 one will clamp it, if it's to far back then there's a silencer in the way.

I must check the box for mounts and see what I find that can work, prob end up with something made up in the end.

Hi Jozi, i have a single 2.5'' pipe and an m42 box at the moment. The exaust is custom so it most likely sits in a different position as yours, so not sure if this will help much, but...

The original part 9 was used from that last diagram you have posted, and bolted to the gbox

Then, a bracket was made out of 2mm steel and welded to part 9, and welded to the exhaust also. The side of the bracked that was welded to the exhaust was shaped into a semi circle so it welded flush with the circular edge of the exhaust.

The exhaust can be removed simly by undoing the two bolts that connect the newly made bracket to the gearbox.

Also, it's worth noting that part number 14 in the last diagram is a rubber, so there is a bit of give in the bracket mounting the exhaust onto the gearbox. If you're running solid engine and gearbox mounts, then it's worth welding the exhaust through a SOLID bracket onto the gearbox. It will take much strain off the manifold etc. when cornering.
