I don't think there is much wrong with the for sale section.

I'd leave it as it is. All I'd do is add a report to mod button. If clicked it could post a link in the mod's section?

Then if these t1ts start spamming mod's could remove it from the thread, warn the numptys and wouldn't have to waist time policing this place!

I love a moan as much as the rest of you bitches but there isn't much wrong on here.

That's why us sad coonts spend so much time on here!!!! :o:

I did start to code this about a year ago, but I stopped because this feature is already coded in to the updated version of this forum software, which I'm working on but it won't happen over night.

that’s a good idea, cant the button be labelled there’s some wet behind the ears know-all, needlessly spamming my for sale thread? That name would need a large button granted

The amount of input into that thread would I fear crash the site!

I know the mod's are busy guys these days, but if the resource were available, a 'FS thread specific' moderator would be handy. Mods could take it in turns for any given length of time to solely concentrate on modding the for sale threads, and should someone post a derogatory or unhelpful comment, just remove it. Simple.

Personally i would rather be able to comment on FS threads, or at least read other comments. As said before it does help to give you an idea of what you are looking at. If i was looking at an ad for a 'mint' sport for example, and it was a locked thread like on e36coupe, i would have no idea whether it was any good or not. If Barry or brian came along and said 'i know this car, it's a beauty' etc. you would be more inclined to go and have a look!

Unfortunately, open internet forums and social networking sites have opened up a whole new playground for certain types of people to quickly and easily put down and ridicule others for personal gratification. If you wish to be part of this kind of culture, you must be prepared to come across these characters and have skin thick enough to let it slide.

Sorry for the rant, just wish people on here would chill the fook out sometimes, we use the zone for fun, why must it be so regimental!

+1

the posts should be like classified ads, without an option to reply.. or give the thread starter the option to edit their own posts! :D
I can see the arguments starting already..

it doesn't help that a lot of people here like to put stuff down.. whether they know bugger all about it or not! or just comment for the sake of it..
You seem to be coming across a bit hypocritical to be honest.

I doubt it..

no research at all would come up with the fact that this is an alpina styled turd.. even to the untrained eye it's just a chrome moredoor..

this is what E30 sales will be riddled with over the next few years as people try to make a few extra bucks because a bloke down the pub said it was rare and someone told them that the colour was a one off...

You already said that (no one picked up on it so fair enough you posted it again :D clearly nowt better to do on a Friday night!) .. And I totally agree! Although.. ATM we are allowed to post and to be fair it's the only derogatory post I've EVER made in the f/s section.. And it's not particularly harsh :)

( in other words, I really don't care  but it's cute you do.. )

Now.. Are you sad enough to check that statement out using the search function :D

All this aside, I still think locking the posts is a good second option if you can't afford a mod to be sitting on it 24/7

personally locking is not going to help ! , taking the pish out of someones pride and joy isnt nice tho ,
on the otherhand a handfull of people saying that a car is a lemon due to lets say hidden past ect needs to be said .

maybe a somthing like a button with thumbs up with maybe 5 bullet points with reasons on why the car is good eg

.good runner
.time and effort
.solid shell

and the opposite for a thumbs down ??

That sounds waaaay to complex! It's gotta be simple... After all the suggestions I think the clear answer is, if you post a for sale ad, keep an eye on it.. If people spam it, tell a mod.. And if people ask questions or make comments be ready with an answer...

And don't ask 6 grand for a snotter :D
