I'm sure this has been asked time and time again! But I was woundering what LSD I should be looking for.
My car is a 89 e30 318i, I have a m52 swap using an e34 525 gear box (m50). The props are z3m front and standard rear. The diff is 3:10 ATM but would like somthing longer. The diff is in the casing that can bee seen in a e30 325i.
All this info was provided by the previous owner. If anyone could help me to locate and select a LSD that would be ace!
I have 2 spare diffs of the same size but possiblly diffrent ratios, can I rebuild one of these to make a LSD? As in bu y the internals? Get someone to make one up?? So unsure! Any help much appreciated!

I dont think there is a 3.10 ratio available, if I were you id physically test the diff to see what ratio you have before you go any further. Generally anything between 2.9 and 3.2 will be fine

once i had posted this i looked some more on ebay and such like and imdeiatly realised that 3:1thanks for the help tho! i will investigate and find out what the real raio is of the diff is, tbh i could do with a longer ratio that i can hit over 60 ish in 2nd thus reducing the 0-60 time. the car can just about get the 60 mph in second but it dosent feel very healthy.
what sort of diff could you recomend for my self?
basic m52 engine with m50 inlet, tubular manifolds and stright 2.5 bore zorst to backbox.
apprently it has some sort of chip but i just dont think so.
cheer again!

If you must reach 60 in second an extra 500rpm will get you there, 7000 limit rather than 6500
