I'm really not sure I understand what you're saying, so correct me if I'm wrong:
You put some fuel in and the orange fuel light doesn't go out. What's 10? Ten quid or ten litres? The light should be on if there's less than 10 litres in the tank. If you've filled up and the light is still on, it's likely to be the sender.

Sorry for the hi jack but I don't think my low fuel light works at all, what's the problem here then. I have gone way past the last line with no light on. Needle also twitches a mm or 2 if i go over a bumpy road.
Any ideas??

Possibly could be the gauge. I have a similar problem I that the light only comes on way after it has passed the last mark. It looks like the clocks have been changed on mine at some point and it's got the gauge for the larger 60 something litre tank instead of the one for the 53 litre tank.

Has it got a brass nut that needs tightening at the back?? Like the temp gauge has.
When I had your cab it had super rare white M dials with colour changing nonsense. Are they still present?

It all depends on how much is left in the tank. Ten pounds won't buy you 8 litres these days, so you still might not have enough in the tank to make the sender work.
Stop being a tight-arse and brim the tank, to properly test the senders and gauge. Letting the fuel level run that low anyway will cause more serious problems down the line, because the fuel pump will be sucking up all the crud and sand in the bottom of the tank. Then you'll have to buy a new fuel pump.
