Ok, I know my car is a 318i Auto four door, but thats it, I dont know the exact model. It has the following spec:

1988 318i Auto
M40 1.8
Four door
Bottle top alloys
Electric windows (front and rear)
Electric mirrors
Manual Sunroof
Cloth seats (not sports)
Just a clock (no OBC)
No check light panel above the rear view mirror
Standard Bus steering wheel
Front fog lights
Small boot spoiler
Headlight washers
Rear disc brakes (which I have been told is very odd to have rear discs on a 318i)

Can anyone shed any light as to which trim level it is, or is it a case of what ticks where ticked on the options list when the car was bought new?

E30 were only sold in the models: i being base, is, se, Lux.

It was a case of what Options that you wanted fitted, any model could have any option fitted. Mine is a standard 325i, i think the only option that was added was the ABS and electric sunroof.

correct me if i am wrong fellas. but i think you can give your VIN number to a BMW dealer and they can give you a list of what options your car came with.

That's true, I have one for my E30.

If you have rear discs do you have ABS ? look for the ABS pump behind the pass side headlamp (metal and plastic lump with ABS stamped on the cover).

I think the original owner of my car must have been a cheapskate. I have no PAS, no elec windows/sunroof, cloth comforts, no OBC, no ABS, no headlight wipers....... Does that mean my car is faster by .00001 of a mph because it weighs less? hahaha.
