I've just changed my Drivers Door, & the it won't lock with the key, on the Drivers door,I've had to take out Fuse 27, as if you try & lock the car from the Passenger/Tailgate lock, all the Locks just springs back up, If you lock the drivers door whilst in the car, its fine, Also the fuel flap is open all the time. Anyone got any ideas?

Its a 1994 318i Touring

Thanks

Phil

I presume you swapped in the lock barrel that fits your key?

Did you clean the pins in the electrics connector in the A pillar?

Have you done the red/black wire mod?

Thanks Malcolm, I did swap the Barrels over, I haven't cleaned the pins, I will do, Electrical connector Cleaner I assume? There was a Black wire with a Bullet connector coming from the car end, it went to a white wire from the door end, Which I cut, when re-fitting, is that the Mod.?

Door Mirrors are fine, I had to swap the Window Motors over as the one of them didn't work.

Most c/l issues come down to the red/black wire mod,as this is a live feed looping through the A pillar connector it can cause all sorts of problems with the door wiring.

I was thinking that your odd black to white may have been an other owner's 'fix' for the mirror wiring!

The lock barrel is mounted properly with it's mico-switch?
Moving correctly and operating the catch to dis-connect the outer handle?
I have often found in the past that the latch gear(in the door jamb) gets stiff,so the lock barrel fails to move it,causing the L shaped part on the outside of the barrel to fail. This is usually not obvious until the barrel is taken apart.

The locks are popping up again because the locking ECU thinks the driver's door isn't shut. Check the adjustment of the lock motor, if it's (hopefully) the older type on the inner door skin.
No bullet connectors in E30 wiring, and the wire colours don't sound E30 either. I suspect this is someone's bodge.

The door which came off had the Red Locking Motor, attached to the latch, The one which went in had the Locking unit at the bottom of the door, held in by 2 10mil's. I have another look at that.
