Help about bbs split rims

I am thinking of buying some BBS split rims for my E30 Cab and when I look around there are many different models and numbers eg RS01, RM012, RC090 etc.

I guess these are just different models and therefore styles, but when buying what do I need to worry about in terms of sizes, offsets etc and how is this identified?

You're right on what the codes mean, and all the pertinent info should be physically stamped on the rim somewhere. The numbers you need are all here:

Depends on what you're looking for.

RC090's are a 5x120 pcd, so you'll either need 18-20mm adaptors, about £300 plus.

RM's can fit in 15" upto 9j with come to ET 0
8j are ET 12 and come in a straight fit.

RS's, how deep are your pockets really.
RS 003's origional BMW fit will set you back about £15oo for a set in need of refurbishment, so add about anoter £500 for a simple refurb or about £800 plus for new lips, sprayed centres and new bolts.

I've been thing about 15" BBS RS's which would look very good and are cheaper then 16".

Do you already have 16's then? It is hard to find them really other than the odd set on ebay. I guess they will always hold there value if looked after, which is always comforting should circumstances change!

I know its a bit taboo but there are some good reps online these days - only 1 piece instead of split rims but they do come in great fitments, and you can't complain for £400 a set, rather than £1400!!

I was recently looking at a set on eBay that were 16x8 and 16x9 - would have looked absolutely perfect on an E30! All you need are some BBS centres for the caps and you're good!

Also, I used to worry all the time leaving my e36 with its RCs parked up - reps I don't think you would so much?

whats this stretch lark all about anyway? I thought inappropriately sized ditch finders was all anyone could afford after buying a set of BBS splits.

they are huge 195/50's in fact. This is the first set of 15's on the car and it has been difficult to decide on tyres. The stock 55 series fit the arch very well and i was going to go for 45's but then that only increases the gap with the wheel and the arch and means more lowering. I like lowered cars but not to the point where theyre impractical and on 15's you have to go very low.

They dont look too bubbly in reality and overall i think the wheels look balanced to the rest of the car.

So if RS003's fit an E30 as original fit, would a set of RS001 be the same?

I just spoke to a guy about a set but he said the front wheels 7" were RS001 but the rears which are 7.5" or 8" (he couldn't remember!!! ) were not RS001. He couldn't remember what they were either! Needless to say I won't be buying them!

Does the RS numbers that follow indicate a size, or once again a different design.

I am willing to spend around £1000 plus the cost of tyres, but want the right ones. If I can't find the right ones I won't loose sleep!

Rs Numbers dicate what they were from factory I have a complete list, but will probably take the whole page.

All the seller has to do is look under the centrecap, all RS's are stamped there unless they are weld/redrilled, where the number is deleted.
