I would check all the pipes under the bonnet for leaks!
Injectors can be cleaned by http://injectortune.co.uk/ (http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... =injectors),
they do discount for zoners, you will have to take them off the car and post, you'll get them back less than in a week time and they will be like new.

Hi, you don't mention what mileage she's done or the year. but worn injectors won't cause a smell of fuel. It's possible there may be a leak somewhere, it could be perished fuel lines. which is a fire hazard and an M.O.T fail.
The fuel economy is rubbish on the m20 anyway but a faulty temp sensor or the throttle plate switch can cause high consumption.I'd check these before having the injectors re-furb'd.
Obviously a good service, ie, oil+filter and air filter, and valve clearances can help too.
best of luck.
If it ain't broke..
Fix it till it is :)

I had this exact same problem, it turned out to be the fuel hose that goes to the fuel rail/intake manifold. Visually it looked fine but when I pressed on the joint fuel squired out. The jubilee clip just needed tightening down.!

Go check it, you really don't want raw fuel so close to that uber hot exhaust manifold.!
