I'll be needing a new back-box soon, this will be the fourth since I've owned the car and they're not cheap. Is there a decent stainless option that is no louder than standard? No "universals" need apply :)

You just like it because it's called Alex. No overseas delivery either. So Jetex is a good choice on the noise front?

I'm guessing they're big $$ and would need replacing in a few years.

They last a long time, I've seen some E30's still on the original exhaust and they sound so good and how a BMW should sound.

I can vouch for the original systems longevity.Mine is still on the original Boysen system.22 years old and still in good order.Sounds great to....quiet on motorways etc but emits a lovely note under acceleration. 8)
Perfect exhaust imho. They are fairly pricey though but worthy on a nice car.

New centre and backbox from BMW is around 400 notes, for the 3 peice system.

I intend on going down this route, ditching a relatively quiet stainless system, as you just can;t match the refined exhaust note from a genuine system in my humble opinion.

Just need to find out what part number will give me the backbox with the S shaped tail pipes... Which is proving hard. :(

So do oem back-boxes have the angled tail pipes? I'd prefer straight out if possible.

You can get both. Another vote for OEM, last years, and sound lovely.

Why the difficulty in finding the part # for the straight out pipes?

I had to have an exhaust made for the E23. I specifically asked that it should be quiet. They suggested that they'd make the boxes by hand rather than use pre made ones.

It's superb and not terribly expensive.

I could get you a quote?

This is the good option because then after a few years you can open it up and re-baffle it rather than buying a whole new backbox.

Because the pictures arent a reference on the exhaust system section of realoem, so it could well be either.
