I dont know what the going rate of these cars are, or what engine this one has, but ask yourself why does the guy want to swap with you, I'm assuming the E46 is worth a fair bit more than your current car so the guy would be on a loss if he swapped... If its too good to be true, it usually is. Just keep that in mind!
Also, you mentioed he said it has the M Soirts wheels/body kit etc... Pretty certain thats a boge standard E46 fella, i'm buying one too and it looks the same as this, just standard...

I thought they did them in a 1.6, I'm sure I've seen one with a 1.6 badge on?? Also I think Jim is right, those are definitely standard e46 wheels, my brother has them on his e36 convertible and theres no bodykit on the one shown in the photo.

its not councilfied, like my e30 yet
That looks a low spec standard e46 to me though, know someone that has one that looks the shame, almost positive that has no msport extras on though.

it's a no brainer, an E46 weighs much more than an Almera

Steve, i'm sure you can get the AA out to do a check on a car your going to buy... Not sure how much this costs or what they check. But if they are able to check it over and find a fault that would costs you £££££ to fix then its worth spending what they charge to have a nosey if there is no one local you know to help out.
Although the info Leeparkes has put up refers to the Tax running out at the end of May, so im assuming the mot is til October?
