So do you ever see yourself moving on, selling up, and calling it a day with e30s?

I have now been involved with them for a good few years, well maybe a bit longer :o: The e30 is is now my signiture car. So many folk on here seem to get rid only to come knocking on the door cap in hand and keys in the pocket to another e30 :D

How long can you keep yours going?

Mine has been my daily for 12 years and I'm hoping it will do another 12, I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Owned mine for 7years now and no real intention of selling 8)
Constant haemorraging of fuel takes the fun out of ownership sometimes but get that sunny day drive after a good wash (car) and life feels good again...

I only sold my first E30 (2 door 325i) because I needed a more modern, practical, family friendly car. I bought an E30 325i Touring which was 2 years (and many many miles) younger and imagine it will be with me for a long time.

I'm about 15 years into E30 ownership as we stand :o:

Done more work on my touring than any other car I've owned - can't see a reason for me to ever sell it.

I don't own a drivable one and I miss it most times I get to drive other cars. I'll be keeping this one for what I hope to be a long time once the resto is done. There are other cars I want to own which will make the E30 a 2nd car for weekends.

I've been driving E30's now for 8 years.. in fact since I first learnt to drive but have finally moved to the dark side and purchased an E46 diesel :( I couldn't justify the cost of fuel to keep using the E30 as my daily (250mile commute a week) and dont have the space to have a weekend toy.. The missus is happy though as now I'll have a clearout of all the hoarded spares (I don't throw anything LOL)

I do however have a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that I will end up with another E30 but with a slightly more modern engine in,

I'm already mising the old girl

Coming up to three years ownership. I still like the car but I think the love is gone now. It needs a few things doing to it. Not sure if I want to spend the money and carry on enjoying it or sell up :?

I've previously owned four E30s, but haven't since writing off my last one, a 325i Sport.

Quite happy trundling about in Morris Minors for the time being - nice and economical, tax-free, cheap insurance, rear wheel drive and a quicker steering rack than the E30 has! :)

I do miss the E30 at times though...

Bought my Sport just 10 years ago 8O and its not going anywhere soon! Had a couple cars as dailys in the mean time, but have ended up back with E30s.
I do have thoughts of selling the Sport at times, but in all honesty, can't see me actually going through with it, not to mention the Missus would kill me if I did!

My driveway currently consists of 2 E30s and that's how its staying - until that ultra cheap Mk1 Escort appears in my local free-ads! :?

The plan is to keep mine forever, which will be until the wife makes me sell it, I don't have a garage to keep it in or the rust finally takes her to the weigbridge in the sky.

It’s interesting that almost everyone (including the OP) considers the end of E30 ownership to be when the car is sold on.

I will never sell my E30 but I am very conscious of the fact that one day I might be without it.
It has already been stolen once and I was very lucky to get it back in something close to one piece, since then I have had another attempted theft so it is very likely that it will be stolen again.

Also, if I ever have an accident in it I will probably lose it.
Firstly if it is my fault I don’t have fully comp, and secondly if it is another driver’s fault and deemed to be a write off (and let’s face it, any bump in these cars and they are written off) I will only be paid out on an official valuation chart (probably about 400€) which will only be about a tenth of what the car is really worth.

So yes, despite not planning to sell my car, I am quite prepared for not being an E30 owner.

My car was given to me nearly 8 years ago and has been through a lot with me. If I were to lose it I wouldn’t buy another because it just wouldn`t be the same.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

I'm getting out for a while, spent too much time on my e30 and have become almost pathological about fettling it. I need to spend time on my business so a boring car i don't love awaits. I will regret it though. Quite fancy a 525ix touring next....

I'm looking at a golf gt tdi and a calypso project that I can spend a bit of time on.. rather than a 325 daily drive where I can't stop fiddling with it!

Mine is my first car, I'll say hello again here - hello - I'm now with the E30 zone for some tutoring.

I never thought I'd get one because every time I mentioned getting an E30 people looked at me strange and tried to point me in the direction of Fiestas or 206s.

Pay 3 times as much for a little poop mobile? Nah. Who knows what the future holds? Do I improve the one I've got or modernise...

Mines going to be used for motorsport so could well be binned. But I don't see myself selling it.

Bought it because it was a cheap way to get into RWD compared to an Escort and it came up at the right time off a friend. Since then the BMW bug bit hard and while I want an e30 m3 at some point in the nearish future, I wouldn't buy anything but BMW as a daily.

I have had several e30's over the years and will be selling mine as soon as possble. There a good car not great car, second hand cars are so cheap I don't see why you would use one as a daily so can see people keeping them as a second hand car.

Doubt if i would ever sell the e21 though.

I sold my cab 3 years ago now and have missed it everyday since. I know drive an E60 530d M5 replica and although it drives smoothly and has all the mod cons it's just not the same. It's currently in at PMW for a new exhaust manifold, new DPF, intake manifold and swirl valve deletion and a £2000 bill to match. With an E30, you get a significant engine problem, by a new engine off here for a couple of hundred notes and bob's your uncle.

I've spent the last 4 months and a couple of bags building up a parts collection ready for me buying another E30 sport in the next 12 months. Plan is to get it, strip it down, bare metal respray and build back up with new/reconditioned parts I have/am collecting.

After owning 3 E30's and selling, this one I will be keeping, using as a weekend car and looking after. The E60 will be replaced by the end of the year by a new M power diesel (yes I know) but the upcoming E30 sport will always be a permenant member of the stable.

My advise to anyone considering selling up - Don't do it. Trust me, speakign from experience you will regret it.

My mate has just picked up a 993, he popped round last week in it and I must admit I'm tempted with one.

The M3 might have to go to make room if I decide to pursue it more.

The sport on the other hand will sit in the garage forever more, used or unused I'm not really bothered.

Exactly what I'm finding now Rob. Sold my convertible for £4k which in today's money would be £7k easy money. Trying to find a white 325i sport now and it is proving harder to find than mother-in-laws nice side.
