sensor needed please.

hello, im in need of a reference sensor for an '87 325is. reference sensor is located on the gearbox bellhousing and runs off the early motronic 1.0, 35 terminal ecu.

could you quote me a price for this part please, including postage to s.ireland if its possible.

sorry i should of been more specific.
it's not the original engine, so the chasiss number is of no use.

the reference sensor is from an early 325is (pre-facelift).
it is positioned beside the speed sensor.
both sensors are located on the gearbox bellhousing.
their job is to monitor the flywheel and relay information back to the ecu, to correctly time the fuel injections and spark ignition.

the set of sensors work off the early (original) motronic 1.0 version ecu.

after 1987 when the facelift model e30 was introduced, many features changed. one was the updated ecu; the newer motronic version 1.1 saw the two sensors on the gearbox replaced by one sensor on the front of the engine, that did the same job.
the newer, more efficient and far more common sensor was named; the crank position sensor or CPS for short, and is located on the front of the engine.

however its one of the two older sensor i need. not the speed sensor, but the reference sensor. from what i've read, it seems both sensors are identical, except one monitors the teeth on the flywheel, while the other monitors a pin embedded into the flywheel that represents TDC (top dead centre). so i just need one.

i hope i made things a little clearer and i'm sorry i cant seem to find the sensor on realoem.com.

if we have no vehicle id it makes things very hard to get right part, i think i might have found what you are looking for, have a look again on realoem but in section 12 Engine electrical and see if you can see the part you need

yeah, not having a valid chassis or part number doesn't help on your end. sorry about that.

thanks for your help and patience, but there's no need for those parts anymore. used 2nd hand parts will do for now.

might possibly need other, more common, up-to-date sensors from you in the near future though. but we'll leave that for another day, another thread
