It is low on the scuttle, hence why I didn't notice it and a little wonky as Simon described, but I'm happy with it.
I need to get me scuttle done soon so I'd like to see a picture of your's to get an idea of how they are stamping them now, they were stamping them on the horizontal surface instead of the vertical one. If you don't want to show your vin number you can cover some of it up.

Ok, here you go a cropped version, not sure how they got it stamped as they did not have the registration document?

Excellent post.

I have a 325i sport and I am following your posts with interest. My sport has the bad areas you have rectified, rear panel wings, scuttle and aerial. You have cheered me up as I have been wondering if it was worth going on or breaking. I would be very interested in your costs. Don't mean to be nosey but it would give me a good idea of what I would need to find.
Looking at your pictures it could me my car except for the colour as my sport is diamond black. Again thank you for your posts.

Thanks for the picture.

Is it the lighting or are some of the numbers stamped deeper than others as the 2 and 1 look deep and the 9 and 4 look like they are only half stamped.

Would there be any chance of a picture from slightly father back so we can see the positioning of it, as it's hard to tell from that picture.

Nice work, I bumped in to Darren from SPR the other day - need to get my car over to him for some fiddling!

Nice result there

TBH I gave up on new stamped apron panels a few years ago, always made a hash of them at the dealers, wonky and in the wrong place, I got blank ones in the end and popped the original VIN in by welding and cleaning up before I fitted then new panels.

wrong- yes I suppose but the end justifies the means :D

Just went and had a look at the touring's vin, I have to say it is quite different. It is much longer and all the digits are clear and stamped the same. PaulD you are correct the stamping depth does vary.

Good god, I hope my zinno doesn't have ferrous worms that bad in it.

Very glad to see the hard work being put back into it.

Thanks for all the kind words. M-technik3, the rust detailed so far only does not include what was hiding underneath. All this was taken care of a couple of years ago, but it was a shocking discovery..

Did the price reflect the condition when you bought it,or was that above a nasty suprise?

The price did reflect the condition. However I did not expect the extent of the infestation. This will be of no surprise to seasoned e30 owners, these cars can hide some nasty secrets.

So, a few pictures of the car all back together. Not really had the chance to get decent pictures that do the painting justice..

Back in the garage.

That looks amazing! Only thing I would do is get new rear lights for it.

Thanks, but why new lights, think it might just be the photo making them look dull..?
