Rav asked me to start a thread so here it goes. (someone has got to keep him happy )

:D

Swopped my 325i touring for this, its a 325i povo spec moredoor in Lazur Blue. Its in far better condition than i thought, when i was told it has scuttle rot and towing eye rot i thought that would just be the start of it but i'am very supprised with it.

The Footwell jacking pads are excellent and like new, the inner rear arches and outer arches are spot on. Roof excellent inner wings excellent. Yet to get the carpet out but i think its going to be a good one.

Its got the standard 3.64 diff and a 325i exhaust of some sort but i'am not sure wether its 2 or 3 piece yet.

its stripped out inside apart from 2 bucket seats however ive got some recaro high backs and houdstooth rear bench which will be going in, i think i'am also going to fit my 15" bbs to it.

Plan is to get the rust sorted if it was really rotten i was just going to leave it but i have a feeling that once the scuttle and towing eye are done its going to be pretty spot on.

here are the pics i have so far. Traveled to east london yesterday with Magpie left my house at 8.30am and got back home at 12.00am that night. I'am still shatterd a day later. but well worth it

Plenty of council activity :D

Hell of alot of work to be done inside the engine bay, i'am going to get a 324td washer bottle and e28 535i air filter, also 4 pot wiring covers and an m3 battery tray bulkhead cover. Aswell as sort out the rest of the wiring, the starter is on a switch so is the fan, i will probably opt for a danthe fan loom (assuming it works with an m30)

Even giving bonus points for the lucida grand lounge, you guys are merely trainee council types. Truly epic council activity was spotted in the 'heath at 9 am yesterday morning of the E32 towing a 535 sport minus its N/S/R wheel /brakes that had been left on the M6 south bound at 9 pm the previous evening

Pics to follow ! :)

I would be taking it easy when you go out in it for the first time with the 3.64 on it.
Especially if it's wet or damp.
You will be following through then winkeye

I will i dont like booting them in the wet anyway

I want a slipper for it, Ideally a 3.43 or what ever they are.

The Rev counter doesnt work and the starter has been wired to a switch, is there some wiring that needs altering in the c101 socket thingy ?

Yes, 3 wires for the rev counter, lights and fan.

All in the M30 section, i'll dig it out.

And leave the 3.64 in it atm, don't go any lower unless your doing motorway mileage.

Wiring
Using the M30 engine loom, some minor modifications are needed... Temp sensor - the brown temperature sensor on the M30 block will need swapping for an E30 (M20 only?) item.
Extend coil connection - you'll probably find the coil will need to move, & the 2 (non-HT) connections to it will need extending. Not a difficult job, & best left until you know exactly where you'll mount it & how long they need to be.

Facelift wiring mods (these apply to those with a facelift shell) - the engine will run without doing them, but for everything to function correctly, the following are needed;

To get the 'economy swingometer thingy' working you need to swap pins in the M30 loom:
Pin 3 (black and white) and pin 8 (black and purple).

To get the electric windows and sunroof to work with the doors shut and for the heater blower to work at all you need to connect the black and green wire from pin 15 on the E30 C101 to a small spade connector on the starter motor.
rev counter?

I have a feeling the blue temp sensor might still be an m30 item on mine as it runns lumpy as anything below what seems to be about 2000rpm
