So I put a bulb in my brake pad warning light today for the first time since I've had the car (only 7 1/2 yrs.... :o: )

I fully expected the light to come on and stay on, but no. With the key in pos 1 the light didn't even come on at all.

But when I started the car a bit later on I noticed that the light did come on while the engine was cranking, then went off as soon as the car started. I can't believe that this is right because the light only stays lit a second or two.

Should it not come on with the other warning lights ?

If im reading and understanding right the brake light will stay on until the brake pedal is pressed. Usually its the only light that comes on unless you have other warnings

Edit. See no understand :D

he is reffering to the light on the dash, not the check panel.

Correct, I'm talking about the worn pad warning light.

I've read that some clusters develop a problem with this circuit so I'm wondering if this is the symptom, but all the threads I can find using "search" are about the light being on all the time....

This is normal operation of the pad wear indicator.
