Next weekend I'm going to attempt to replace the touring headlining with the minty fresh new one I got:

Anyone got a step by step to help- or anecdotes and warnings from when they did theirs?

How difficult is it?

Its a sunroof model- I'm planning to use the sport headlining as well as the standard headlining is a non elec sunroof one. I'll also be plumbing in a map light mirror and trying to understand why the aerial for the radio is rubbish-

Thanks in advance

Stu

Two screws hidden under the 'gurney flap' at the front of the sunroof, beware of the razor sharp stainless bits, and make sure you have an assistant.

This is in my "To Do" list, both for the car and the Wiki:

Remove grab handles and sunvisors
Be very careful removing windscreen pillar, B, C and D pillar trims - B pillar has plastic hooks which break off for fun, C & D pillars have plastic lugs which push into metal clips which also snap off.

There are 4 screws which hold the lining in place around the sunroof aperture

At the back end there are push-in clips holding it in place - you need to prise these apart to drop the headlining down slightly, there are a further 2 locating clips which slot into the crossmember in the roofnear the C pillar

IIRC thats all the screws and clips - the rest is glued in place under the sunroof trim and under the door seals in the door apertures.

If you're replacing the sunroof lining as well it is held in place by 2 x rivets which need to be drilled out - so you will need a pop-riveter with very small rivets to refit it.

This is not a particularly difficult job - but its fiddly, long-winded and easy to break stuff. Take your time

You only really need to use glue around the sunroof aperture - I used spray contact adhesive which I got from the trimmers who re-trimmed my lining.

As long as you have sufficient material to fold over the lip, its is held in place by the door seals - i didnt bother to glue mine here.

Might be an idea to take some pics and do a step-by step for the wiki if you can

You can also install a grab-handle above the drivers door - the captive nuts are already there in the roof - for in case you fancy a bit of diffin :D

Also its more to hold the liner in place.

If you're fitting the dog guard/cargo net make sure you cut out the holes in the lining from the back before you fit it - again the captive nuts are already in the roof and the rear of the lining is marked to show you where to cut.

The mountings are still available from the dealer.
