I had car serviced and cleaned injectors fitted recently. Everything went smooth, but on the road I noticed that temp gets only up to the first mark (it used to be in the middle leaning a little to the left for the past 5 years), then I looked again and it was in the middle, but then dropped back to the first mark again. can that be a thermostat, or sensor? thanks

If it dropped instantly, then the problem is most likely that a small nut on the back of the instrument cluster case, immediately behind the gauge, has worked loose.

I would think it's something wrong in the instrument cluster. Took the car for a drive today, the temperature went up as it should, but then after some time the gauge dropped a bit, and then jumped a bit, it was playing in between the first mark and the second (middle). I was checking the heat all the time and it was same temperature hot air.
The other thing I noticed, or may be did not for a long time. When I turn the ignition key in position that lights up the dash lights (from the cold after the night), the temperature is up a bit, not on the blue mark, a bit lower, but it is not lying at the bottom like I see on other cars (not e30). Is that normal for e30 or there is a problem in relation with the gauge jumping?
