Moderator: martauto
Hi guys. New to the zone. I'm after a touring in excellent condition but not a lot seems to come up. I want one with an m tech kit on really. one came up last week on pistonheads for 2400 with 160k on. I thought that was a bit dear what do you think. Do many come up for sale?

Condition is everything - if its rot free £2400 is considerably less than it will cost you to restore a £750 sh1tter to good condition.
The M Tech kit in good nick on its own is worth a few hundred quid.
Theres plenty that come up for sale - how much do you want to spend ?

excellent condition and factory fitted Mtech 2 kits dont really go together.
Best of getting a nice touring the fitting a kit your self, body kits like the tech 2 hide a lot of rust you cant see when buying a e30.

Have a look at how much hidden Rust an E30 can have:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Rust
and imagine how much it would cost to repair it all. Remember that all of those spots are invisible when a body kit is fitted.
Now notice that almost all of those photos come from the same car; mine. A Touring.

As above...
No idea if you have time/skills/interest/etc, but I would see this as the start of a project!!
Get yourself a decentish touring that maybe wants a acouple of bits doing, make sure it's nice and solid and just let it evolve as and when you can!! Get bits sorted if need be and keep your eye on here for a proper tech 2 kit!!!
That's how I started and I'm still pissing about several years, and lot of E30s on!!

i wouldn't be to choosy on colour with that spec and price !

m52 b30 stroker 6-speed 318is Galvanizer
m42 touring
+ a yard full of scrap turds
You won't see to many tech2 tourings come along! Buy on body condition is my advice, all the rest can be fixed or added later!
If you don't know your way around these turds, you MUST take someone with you who DOES.
E30's are really good at looking solid when they are anything but!

+1 on what Dezzy said. Get someone from off here to go with you. Whats your location? If your in Leicester, i'm willing to come along.
If your not bothered about it being a 325i then go for any solid touring and pick up a kit at a later date. They dont come up often at all and the chances of one appearing when your looking is sheer chance!

That does look like a clean one, but two things:
a) red paint is known to fade very badly. I've no idea if a mop 'n polish will bring it back to original
b) mud flaps are massive rot traps. This one looks clean, but it's something to be aware of.
It's always worth reading our Buyers Guide too:
