M50 lambda wiring

Hi,

I am prepping an m50 (single vanos) to go in my e30.

I presume the m50 does need a lambda sensor, is the connector for it below the starter on an m50?
Is it just the 1 sensor required?
Is it ok if it only sees the gases from 3 cylinders?

Just had to ensure I connected my E34 lambda that was none exsistant on the car I bought!!

Runs better now!

Looking for a lambda now, is an m52 one from an e38 any good?

If I need an m50 one what cars can I take them from, I guess any m50 e34/e36? How about m40/2/3 engined models?

Been trying to look through realoem but the part numbers seem to be different for each vehicle - I guess this is down to wiring lengths mostly.

I don't know if the actual sensors are the same, but the plug on the M52 and the M50 are totally different, so a M52 lambda won't plug straight into the M50 loom

I did notice that the plug was different but that's not too much of an issue.

Just trying to find out about the sensor itself, the part numbers are different for each model so didn't really help.

I'm thinking that they're all narrowband 4 wire sensors so should do the same job? I'll wait for someone who knows to correct me though!

From what i have heard the m50 non vanos one is hot wire and unique to the m50nv managment, all the later seamens based ecus use a hot film type that wont work with the m3.1 on the non vanos.
