Hi,
My son has just bought a 1990 318i. It's very nice car and we hope to keep it that way...and do a few mods. However, the fuel pump has just packed up. We've bought a replacement pump but need to connect it to the original wires. I've read a few of the 'how to' guides and appreciate that we'll have to solder the original wires to the new pump...but it seems that when the pump is fitted into the tank, the wires will be immersed in petrol...or am I completely wrong?!! Just want to the swap properly and safely.
We are also doing an oil change. Is Magnatec 10/40 OK as I happen to have some? Car has done 107K
Thanks,
Martyn

Hi and welcome, Yes the wires sit in the petrol, this is usual. Make sure the solders are good so they will not spark.
A 10/40 weight oil is fine for any E30 under normal use. This is the oil weight nearly everybody will use in them.
