Just gave my dash a wipe and I noticed 2 cracks appearing about 1cm long and 0.5 not split open complete but there, anyway heard a rumour it helps if you rub Vaseline into it? Any ideas

can't say I have ever had to rub vaselene into a crack ?

the only way to cure it is to replace the dash board with a good one,

Lol, I definitely don't wanna be removing the dash, it's such a pain and it's just gonna cause squeaking and won't Refit properly, the cracks are just appearing so il give it a go, if not Vaseline I can try use some oils, and rub it in,

perhaps drilling a small round hole on each end of a small crack will stop it progressing further???.......i dont know this for sure, but heard it somewhere. if a vinyl is splitting, the round hole will stop the split elongating....perhaps! :?

nah dont know about drilling any holes, then il have cracks and holes, 8O ,

i just rubbed some vaseline into the crack, surprisingly covered in very nicely!, not that thick or sticky makes the dash look shiny as well! it just covered it in you can hardly see the crack now, wel see how it holds up though

I did mine in a weekend :) It should be easily do-able in a day if I hadn't spent a load of time removing an imboliser and sorting the stereo loom

It looks SO much better now 8) No rattles or squeaks, although I do have a dash light bulb holder that I can't find a home for, but everything still lights up, so I've just left it

as above drill a small hole at the end of each crack, then fill the hole and the crack with black silicone, if you do it carefully the crack is alomst invisible.

what vaseline will do is beyond me, the dash cracks because it gets hot then cools down, and the stuff over years cracks - vaseline will not stop that,- hence why good dashes are worth a fortune in OZ and USA.

I did my cracked cab dash out here this way, the cracks stopped, you could only see the cracks when close (and we get 50C + temps over here)
