Hi,

One of my headlight bulb needs replacing and thought its the perfect opportunity to upgrade them.

Some of the bulbs promise to give a better light output then the standard ones and their is plenty to choose from i.e. PIAA, Osram, Philips etc.

I am after a bulb that will gimic the Xenon look.

Anyone recommend some decent bulbs would love to see pictures of them installed?

Ultra bulbs are good for the look, but you can get brighter bulbs. Not got pics right now but can get some.

just put the Philips Vision Plus bulbs in my daily to replace the woeful ones that were in there and they are significantly better.

Buy from ECP with discount code and they are cheaper than the price mentioned in the review

+2 HID kits are like night and day compared to normal halogen bulbs. I've been running one of the many cheap chinnese sets available on ebay now for the past 3 years with no problems.

No. There's a difference between what is strictly legal and what will pass a MOT test, but with a beam pattern so well controlled as that of a facelift E30, you aren't going to run into any trouble either with the MOT or plod, assuming they are aimed correctly and aren't some stupid colour.
I've run three sets of Chinese 4300K HIDs for several years now, and the only comment I've had from ant MOT tester was how good the beam pattern was.
Only problem I've had is one failed ballast.
'Upgraded' H1 bulbs can still be useful for the main beam lights, where HIDs aren't suitable.
