So I have recently pulled my touring out of storage and am trying to get it to an MOT station this week sometime. I am having trouble getting BOTH of my brake lights to come on. Nothing I have done seem to get them to come on. The check panel bulb for the brake lights is on.

I have swapped a couple of good 7.5A fuses into #6, even though the original wasn't blown.

I have swapped the entire bulb assembly on each side for two KNOWN good assemblies.

I have swapped the brake light switch for a KNOWN to be good one.

None of the connectors on any of the above seem to be corroded and I have not found a broken wire at any of them either.

The touring does not have a towbar fitted. I am not seeing a relay or any other fuses that might be blown to be causing me any problems. Everything else in the rear lights work. I am guessing it is down to a wire somewhere, anyone know which color the wire is to start looking or any other checks I can do to isolate the problem?

Click "Lights", and you'll get your wire answer.

I'll admit, I had rear light issues with my Touring as well; one was constantly failing to light, and I changed all sorts of stuff but still couldn't cure it. I put it down to a micro-break in the wire somewhere, but it could equally have been the earth for that side too.

Are neither of your lights coming on, or is it just one of them?

Once again, as in yet another thread where I'm expected to have psychic powers!
6 cylinder cars have completely different brake light wiring at the rear end from four cylinder cars.
