I'm a fan of the Auto Glym range.

I like the HD wax and also the Extra Gloss Protection, so when I've polished it with the SRP what's the best wax to use ??

HD or EGP ??

i thought egp was a sealant rather than a wax. i've heard it's 6 and two 3s, apart from the price..........

Autoglym recommend using the EGP after the SRP. EGP is designed to last for a while.

HD wax is 'shinier' but doesn't last as long and is quite expensive.

Have a look on their website, there's loads of stuff including videos on how best to apply etc etc.

they are both a LSP ( last stage product ) and do the same job

while the HD wax is expensive it will be used for many applications. i've used mine on several cars and not even got through a 1/4 of it.

for me, i'd pick HD wax over the EGP, it is as durable if maintained with a good wash technique. i applies it to my daily last june, washed the car every 7-14 days and come november it needed a top up wax.

if you want even more bling, the victorias red wax is amazing on black and red cars. not as durable but for your garage queens it would be ideal

for a top up wax, Zaino Z8. it is the dogs bollocks

When powely did some correction we used a whole host of Zaino on the bonnet including Z8.

I was sold!

I'm going to invest in some more product this summer and maybe even a machine! 8O

Exactly

while it's £20 it will last you a while. It took me 12 months to use up a bottle of it.

I forgot about this :o:

I polished it last week and finished it off with EGP, I have 6 boxes of the HD wax - bought at DC10 for a good price :P, I like the HD wax but I've had the EGP on the shelf for ages and I wondered when best to use it.

Zaino Z8 - how does that work ??

6 boxes ?!?! You're nuts lol

Z8, it's a spray that you mist on top of your wax/sealant

Mist it on a panel and buff to a shine. You get really slick wet finish.

The EGP is a synthetic sealant, I'd be more inclined to use it on a daily. It's more durable than the wax, but as I sai before the HD wax is very durable in my experiance

can someone tell me what srp stands for? dont understnad all this abbreviated stuff.lol :) , also hd what does that mean and are we talking all autoglym products? I currently use the ultra gloss protection and it brings a lovely shine and really baeds the water when it rains. what are the other things we're talking about, same sort of thing a wax/sealant?

also is the autoglym syuff generally better than the meguiars stuff?

cheers

SRP = super resin polish
HD = high deffinition

The EGP ( extra gloss protection ) and the HD wax are a last stage product , to be use after polishing the car.

Polishing cleans and revitalises your paint a prepares it for a LSP.

The Z8 is a detailing spray, like meguires 'last touch'

As for which is better, they are both good but I prefer the auto glum products, but in my collection i have both and lots more.

I use AutoGlym Super Resin Polish, then a generous application of Extra Gloss Protection, very good lasted at least 2 weeks which is pretty long and then slowly started to wear off so its strong for a good 3 weeks I'd say.

Also if your car is the blue I see then I would recommend the AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine instead of Super Resin Polish as it works better for darker colours then apply Extra Gloss Protection, their website is very useful.

You got 2 to 3 weeks protection from EGP, it should if applied correctly easily give 2-3 months protection
I've used products like HD wax and it's lasted over 4 months

It is not a product you want to slap on either. Thin layers, 2 of them will do the job

If I could make it clearer maybe it lasted that long on my car when it started to wear as its a Brilliantrot Red which has had no respray and was in pretty pour condition when I got it, however I did manage to bring the colour back to life.

So given a month at least it would start to come off I drive everyday in all weather conditions rain sun, and parked in the sun as well so 2-3 months is a bit of a long shot from my opinion.

But yes I would most defiantly agree it does last a long time.

What paint are you applying this to Kos? You need to remember Tanveer's paint is a straight colour, not clear coat. Clear coat is a different ball game.
I had bad results on my black paint with the Ultra Deep Shine, SRP is the best stuff ive used on mine, find it much better than the Meguiers fine polish but it does remove quite a fair bit of paint which you have to be careful with when its the original stuff!
I only go over mine once a year with SRP, unless there is a mark I need to shift.
The best wax/Final Stage stuff ive used so far is Poorboys paste wax, works a lot better than the HD wax for me. Lots of detailing spray in there also.
Water hardness contributes a lot to how long the wax will last, one or two washes from the tap in my area and it needs wax.

Dan

i've used it on modern laquered paint, and old 2 pack paint both with excellent results

ultra deep shine is crap, its an all in one product and really lets it self down. i bought some years ago, used it once and it still on the shelf collecting dust now

super resin polish is excellent, does exactly what its supposed to do. but if you finish off the car with HD wax it will last longer on a car thats driven daily and clean with good wash technique

SRP does have some cut, but not enough to damage the paint especially if you apply it by hand

for your car dan, i know something that would take it to the next level.

finish it of with victorias red wax and it will look so slick its unreal !

Yeh this sounds about right, and yeh Ultra-deep shine works good with darker colours anyways.
