Antbody know why steering rack(track rod ends I think) would foul on shock?
Garage noticed it when it went in for check over, said they can't see any ripples or evidence of crash.
Crash Damage?

I can only think of a Bent track rod end.....
I take it tht it is fouling on the bottom of the strut....

Yes that's right, the track rod was bent, but they seemed to think it was caused by hitting the strut.
Thinking about it that wouldn't bend it would it??

The most common cause of bent track rod ends is smacking the wheel on a kerb or on a bad pot hole.....

right, so hopefully the new rack will sort it. They started talking about getting it on a rig and checking alignment and so on, got a bit worried.
cheers for that.

If the track rod end has been bent, i would have the front suspesion checked for alignment, it should not cost more than Ԛ£15-20. but dont let them bullshit you with a four wheel alignment, as you can only adjust the front Toe in on an E30, The alignment check will tell you if somthing else was whacked out of shape.

You should only need new ends not a whole rack.
Unless you have the wrong one on there to start with and it has too much travel
No idea what rack that would be though
Are you sure the rack is centred when the wheels are straight ?
see if you have equal movement in both wheels from lock to lock.

There is NO nucleus.

I'll go for the alignment then, not too pricey.
I got the rack from a zoner, really good deal, have just found receipt for a E36 stabliser link bar??????
That would'nt make any diff though would it?
