Rally cars tend to have much more weight due to the cage. I too have kept my battery in the boot, but it will eventually move behind the passenger, this is a much better location for it.
Im running the lightest 330mm disks AP make, simply because I wanted to get the over all car weight down as much as possible and looking at my good tyre wear on track days, its paying off.

Removed all the wash/wipe from my car. May install a small tank in the boot.kipsy wrote:Be interesting to know if someone has weighed a rally car on here? Move battery to boot for ballast? Washer bottle behind seat? Extinguishers behind seat, (drilled frontdiscs)
If I'm keeping ABS I will move the pump onto the rear bulkhead or behind the pass. seat.
Really should get rid of the tech 2 but I like it too much! Will be stripping out as much weight as possible though. Might leave the rear bumper as standard to try and get a better weight distribution

I have it on a switch as I use my car on the road at times too. r888's + water = scary as fook without abs. Plus just nice to have in general.kipsy wrote:Lost my spoiler and gutted the bootlid with no locks etc. Much lighter but loved the look before. Abs is crap in my opinion, loose it and save weight
Would love to get a racing ABS system but no doubt mega bucks

Where do most people go to get their cars weighed?
I'm intrigued to know what mine is. It's been on a massive weight saving mission. Removed under seal, fiberglass bumpers, bonnet, boot lid, polycarb windows, cut the wheel well out and replaced with ally, replaced rear bulkhead with ally firewall, 20 liter tank in the boot etc.. In my head I'd like to think its near the 900kg mark, whether thats possible or not though I have no idea. Be nice to see what my efforts have been worth though.

Is it heresy to suggest a honda s2000 engine swap, better balance and weight ( maybe)? Yes, sorry, of course it is...

My non sunroof 2 door car was 1180kgs with a 2.8 M52/ZF box and a full interior. It is currently at 1040kgs with no dash (awaiting a grp item), stock glass and one sport seat.
The cage will add a bit and two lightweight seats equate to one sport seat and harness's are another few kgs.
I have a carbon bonnet to fit, lightweight windows and bumpers on their way...
The doors and window regs are to be gutted yet, but again this will be offset by adding a fuel swirl pot/extra pump in the boot.
I would realistically like to get it around 1050kgs.
I have also been moving everything back as much as possible for balance.

Good shout !
I am going to weigh my complete engine and box (M52b28/zf) soon for reference...
And also the complete E30 M42 setup and E36 S50b30 setups which are here. I am sure it is on the net somewhere but I want to do it myself so I know its 100% !
I dont have any M20 at the moment unfortunately (oh how I miss that 325 noise !!) but will do that too eventually...

Last time I had mine on the weighbridge, it was 1050kg. Empty tank of fuel, completely bare interior and 1 light bucket. But it did have full glass, electric windows still in, full steel work and a tech 2 kit. Have a feeling the weighbridge needs calibrating
